''Survivor South Africa'' is the South African edition of the Survivor reality television game show format. As in all versions of the show, contestants are isolated in a remote location and progressively eliminated by the vote of their fellow contestants. The winner receives a prize of R1 million. The show is produced by Endemol and broadcast on M-Net. The first two seasons were hosted by (Mark Bayly ), and from the third season (Nico Panagio ) took over the hosting duties. ==Seasons== there are five seasons of the show: * The first season took place on the Pearl Islands in the Gulf of Panama, in June and July 2006. The competition lasted for 29 days and was broadcast in 13 episodes from September to November 2006. The winner was Vanessa (mikiwarara) Marawa, a real estate agent from Durban. * The second season took place in Johor, Malaysia, in May and June 2007. The competition lasted for 27 days and was broadcast in 14 episodes from August to November 2007. The winner was Lorette Mostert, an SAPS Superintendent from Middelburg, Mpumalanga. * The third season took place on Santa Carolina, an island in the Bazaruto Archipelago off Mozambique, in November and December 2009. The competition lasted for 27 days and was broadcast in 15 episodes from January to April 2010. The winner was Perle "GiGi" van Schalkwyk, an exotic dancer and club owner from Johannesburg. * The fourth season was filmed in the Addu Atoll in the Maldives in October and November 2010.〔(SA 4 Location )〕 The first episode aired on 24 February 2011. The season was won by actor (Hykie Berg. ) * Survivor South Africa: Champions was filmed in the islands amidst the South China Sea towards the end of 2013. The first episode aired on 19 January 2014. The two teams were captained by former rugby captain Corné Krige and former Bafana Bafana played Mark Fish.
